Designer goals

Career Goals Reflection: What I want to achieve as a designer is obtaining and improving in my own design skills (utilizes tools more efficiently and becoming more creative).I plan to improve of my skills by seeing others work, improving keyboard shortcuts, observing more graphic designs (from book covers, logos, symbols, posters, even presentation slides)

Refining my logo

Image
My final design works for me because the design is clean, simple, and sleek with a personal touch to it. It can go with a lot of shapes and colors. It's quite universal apart from pairing it with antique looks and symbols. However I looked at fonts and I personally prefer the Gotham light, Gotham thin, and BJ Book typefaces. Maybe with a different color such as a burgundy or Maroon could complement the modern look of the typeface. The King piece shape and Hexagon were the shapes I liked the most because I have a personal connection to the king piece apart from being a fond of chess myself. It's how I should and how I like to envision myself as " the king" the most important but most confined piece. It represents how you can only move/progress step by step without any shortcuts. You can be surrounded by other pieces (people in my life/journey) who are much different than you and have their own specialties/abilities but even so you have your own value, purpose, an...

Electronic Logo Roughs

Image
My two best logos so far in my opinion are the bottom two, simple but unique and eye catching in a way.  The London typeface used for GIO P. ROMAN is just so fitting and excellent in execution. Something you would see on a clothing brand or magazine. It has an antique look to it due to it being a serif typeface, it's intentionally "incomplete" and seeming "hollow" in certain areas. The second logo is slightly different from the "Gotham" typeface I used for the original  sketch. I just thought the typeface being used now was just so much more defined and seemed better with the "cut" design than it did with the Gotham typeface. It's clean, sleek and modern looking logo, especially in comparison to the other logo on the left. The first logo with the glasses has a lot of potential, perhaps a different front and better text wrap execution could make it the best electronic logo rough. What most of my design shave in common is that they...

pencil logo roughs

Image
I would say that my work does need more experimentation, especially with uses symbols along side my "brand name". I do like how my sketches did turn out to be mostly accurate to the logos I had imagined in my head when making these pencil sketches. I was uncertain what else to do with my name other than play around with the alignment, proximity, and font I would use. My design process was to keep things simple and make sense. However I had struggled to try and experiment with other ideas I had in my mind which wouldn't hurt considering that these are just rough drafts of my logo. I still haven't decided on a certain symbol alongside my brand name other than possibly just using my name with a unique looking font, like I did in sketch 10.Nevertheless, there is still more work to do when it comes to creativity and perhaps adding more "Pizazz" to my designs. Such as sketch 9 which seems bland compared to the other sketches I had done. Overall I would say it...

This could be my brand name

What could be my brand name? Roman G.paolo Gio Paolo   Gio Roman G.Paolo Roman          The brand name "Roman" just came to me as one of the most obvious because my last name itself sounds strong and powerful, just like the "Roman" empire. It would look nice in a opheline extralight, roman lover, Roman rexamples, or roman story font. The name itself just comes of elegant and exquisite. It also rolls right off the tongue. Also pronouncing my last name with the accent just becomes even better for a brand name.          G.Paolo sounds small and humble, the name paolo itself has the meaning of "small and humble". Supposedly,  Paolo is a beautiful boy's name borrowed from the Latin names Paul and Paulus. Despite it borrowing latin names, the name had originated in italy. To me the name "G.Paolo" comes off as settling and sophisticated. To me what I like more about it is that "G" to me seems like an eye catcher because peo...

Design Portfolio Research

Gary Shear  Aries Moross- Skyler Hefley Craig Black Naomi Umezu      Gary Shear's site is simple but looks extremely professional and well thought. His initial image that contains motion blur and the city at night alight catches my eye. The page runs smoothly and the aspects of his portfolio "contact details, education, etc" are nice and brief with a legible font. I like how he had images that have remarkable photography or seem very spirited. I liked how he had a collage that are samples of his work in web design and Logo design. He even includes his passions and more about himself as I continued scrolling down his site. The layout is straight forward for site, the pictures, text and text boxes are horizontal. The colors are monotone, white and black. The examples of his work are in a neat picture frame layout which is pleasing to the eye.      Naomi Umezu's site stands out from the others design portfolio sites because she uses her own unique ...

Senior Year Accountability

Senior Goals By Giovanni Roman          Knowing this is my last year at Information Technology my mindset hasn't changed by the slightest in achieving my goals and being at my best. However this year there are new goals I want and need to accomplish. My first goal is maintaining my 4.0 average starting from the first marking period all the way to the end of the year. I'll achieve this goal by staying on top of my assignments by checking jupiter ed after school and during weekends. Another goal I have for this year is getting ready for college by starting my college essay, starting my applications early, update my resu...
