How Posters Work!

This polish poster is  made for King Kong escapes film 1967, what's great about this poster is how King Kong as contrasted from the background. The background is an off white compared to him being pitch black. The features that stick out from him are his silhouette, physique, and red eyes. He is colossal, intimidating, and fierce which is what the audience is supposed to feel and get from the poster. The purple is used to highlight his muscles, it was a common technique to use blue or black as lighting for a black figure. The sans serif typography is supposed indicate that this creature is ancient, which suits well with the off white paper background. The red eyes especially portray him as a ferocious beast. The silhouettes is tilted which completes the uncanny vibe King Kong is giving out. The poster is amazing in my eyes, especially for it's time. I'll use the emphasis of certain parts of subject for my poster, needless to say the emphasis can't be so subtle.

This is simple symbol and poster that works efficiently, Mad men indicates that characters in this story are insane, irrational or hysterical. The symbol of a beer/alcoholic beverage in a glass presents what could be the influence for these "mad men." The grey background works well as contrast between the title and main subject of the poster. Grey is a neutral color that is practically versatile.  The color grey/gray may symbolize gloom and misery which could make a person madly insane. The orange liquid inside the glass can be interpreted as orange juice or alcohol. Due to the title, it most likely has to be an alcoholic substance which would drive someone "mad." Overall the poster is simple and thorough, it clearly conveys what the story is or maybe associated with. Or Alcohol addiction is one of the primary themes of the movie .This poster conveys the story in a straightforward manner. This work reminds that for my poster, I should keep things simple.

This poster is just easy to understand and really should be point out for it's merit, This could easily work as a book cover as well. The symbol of the black crow and vibrant red background clearly indicates suspense, seriousness, tragedy, and even passion. The crow may be symbolizing death and bad luck which insinuates what may occur in the movie/story. Furthermore the crow seems to be injured or carrying a message, perhaps it shows how difficult the setting may be in narrative. The crow looking back may be that there is danger he most be attentive about behind him. Also the head of the crow is perfectly aligned with the heading above "Game Of Thrones." This poster is well composed and caught my eye immediately because of the bright red that contrasts from the black crow that seems to have bandage or paper rapped around it's leg. As mention before, I will keep things simple in my poster but I'll use the aspect symbolism of this poster in to my poster.

This poster is playful, creative, and clear.  The white background is perfect to introduce the imaginary and colorful subject that is the main focus of the poster. The font used for the heading is perfect, the boldness those grab the attention of the viewer/audience. The toy or subject seems to be looking upwards at the heading which helps direct the attention to the title. The toy/subject themself is illustrated as playful and friendly, something a kid would play with or imagine. It's bright green, yellow, black, and orange color palette is marvelous. The way the object is put together with flowers and a toy like body perfectly captures the childlessness and vitality of the poster. The elements are put together well to create this positive and joyful mood. It does an incredible job and pointing out that this poster is for a children's museum, with it's obvious title and vector illustration. The use of a clear thorough heading with appropriate typography will certainly be implemented in my upcoming poster.

This perfectly exemplifies World War Two propaganda, what was used at the time to frighten Americans and make them antagonize Germany. And of course they couldn't forget to heavily emphasize to purchase war bonds to support America in the war against Germany and the axis powers from 1939-1945. The shadow clearly portrays itself as the Nazi sign, we see 3 innocent and frightened children of the sign. The children are blonde and white, one of them is holding an American flag, the other holds a toy plane (to indicate youth) and the girl has her doll. We these details we could only assume They're American children who are supposed to be protected from Nazi Germany. The point of this poster is to encourage Americans to buy war bonds to aid America in defeating Germany in the war, in order to protect their children from being indoctrinated or becoming part of Nazi Germany. The use of vulnerable children in this poster is used to guilt trip people into buying War Bonds. Overall this poster is great, the color palette and typography go hand in hand. The way this poster creatively conveys it's story and message is something I intend on using for my poster.
